JUNU

Junu is a cheerful, 10 year-old girl in her second year as an NCEP scholar.  She passed all her subjects last year with minimal absences.  Both she and her younger sister Anju are supported by their single mother – their father died several years ago – who works a low-paying factory job, and would be unable to financially support her daughters’ education without NCEP’s support.  While extremely supportive of Junu and Anju’s education, their mother, who never attended school, is unable to assist them with their schoolwork; based on the recommendation of Junu’s teachers and NCEP volunteers, Junu has been enrolled this year for some supplementary tutoring.
